Welcome to Sint-Leo Hemelsdaele in Bruges, Belgium

 

Our school is located in the centre of beautiful Bruges, in the western part of the country, 20 km from the seaside. There are three official languages in Belgium and ours is Dutch.

We offer general education to over 500 pupils, aged 12-18 years (year 1 to year 6). The students who are taking part in the S.P.E.E.D.-programme are 14-15 years old and are in year 3.

Our school offers general education with a wide range of subjects such as Latin, Greek, technology, mathematics, sciences and human sciences, economics, Dutch, French, English, German, Spanish, history, geography, religious studies, physical education, art, music,... After their education at Sint-Leo Hemelsdaele, most of our students move onto university for higher education.

In addition we have an extensive programme of extracurricular activities related to entrepreneurship, sports (during and after school hours), the arts (a choir and music group, a drama club) and internationalisation (with exchange programmes with South-Africa and this Erasmus+ project).

From 12-18 May 2018, a S.P.E.E.D. European Week will take place at Sint-Leo Hemelsdaele. 46 Belgian students and 43 guest students from Germany, Hungary, Italy, Romania and Sweden will learn more about Human Resources Management. They will be challenged with an entrepreneurship simulation. They will visit Brussels, the capital of Europe and immerse themselves in everyday Belgian life in their host families.
